Discover the People for the Planet Environmental Design Challenge, an initiative hosted by our environmental activism non-government organization to encourage innovative and sustainable design solutions for a greener future.
The People for the Planet Environmental Design Challenge is a Request for Proposal (RFP)/pure design style competition in which participants in and around OC will design a solution to one of two real-world environmental problem in Orange County (each one outlined in an RFP). The Challenge will last four weeks, with the RFP release on October 25th, and conclude with the final judging round on December 5th at the University High School MPR. The top two teams for each RFP will receive an award and the winning (1st place) teams for each RFP will receive a cash prize. However every participant will be granted a commendation for the work, skills gained, and effort to improving their abilities. Participants will learn how to think like an environmental engineer and implement solutions in different ways as organizations and individuals would in the real world, gaining practical and essential skills for their future and the planet’s.

Phase One: RFP Release and Design Proccess
Upon RFP Release on Oct. 25, students will choose one of the two RFP problems and design the requested solution over four weeks until submission day on Nov. 22. All further instructions will be outlined in the RFPs.
Phase Two: Submission and Review
Submit your solution by Nov. 22, and our expert panel will evaluate your entry based on sustainability impact, creativity, feasibility, and other industry based criteria for real-world implementation and effectiveness.
Phase Three: Presentations and Awards
Present to a panel of judges who will consider all of the designs and presentations. Winners will be announced on site and awards will be given.
